Pellini is encouraging university students and young researchers to participate in the MotionShade Idea Contest, an initiative launched within the framework of the European project MEZeroE. Participants are invited to submit their innovative perforation patterns by 8 September 2025 for the chance to shape the future of sustainable solar shading.
MEZeroE is a European initiative dedicated to developing advanced technologies for building envelopes and to sharing knowledge through an open innovation platform. It brings together research centres, laboratories, and companies committed to creating more sustainable construction solutions that prioritize people’s well-being.
The MotionShade Idea Contest challenges participants to design a micro-perforation pattern for a film that will be used in an innovative solar shading system, integrated into insulating glass units. The aim is to optimise daylight entering indoor spaces while improving comfort, enhancing visual and living conditions, and ensuring energy savings.
Original and well-designed ideas may become tangible solutions, contributing to both the mental and physical well-being of those living, working, or studying in homes, offices, schools, or healthcare facilities.
This competition represents a unique opportunity to address a multidisciplinary theme combining architecture, engineering, design, and sustainability. In addition to a cash prize, the winner will have the chance to engage with Pellini, a leading company in the field of glass and solar shading, which will consider the candidate’s profile for potential internships or for further development of the proposed idea.
Pellini invites all interested students and young researchers to take part in the MotionShade Idea Contest, explore the details on the dedicated website, and become active contributors to the future of sustainable building design.
Join the MotionShade Idea Contest, find out more on the dedicated website, share your idea and become a key player in change!
