The entrance area gives the first impression of the character of a house. A sophisticated building therefore needs an impressive entrance door too. Large-format pivot doors add an architectural highlight.
Unlike conventional doors with hinges that are attached to the wall at the side, pivot doors swing and rotate on a spindle along a vertical axis. What makes this system special is that the axis enables large dimensions, as the weight of the leaf is not borne by the door frame alone. With the AD AL 75 (Aluminium Door air-lux, 75 mm basic depth) door system, Schüco is offering a pivot door for impressive entrances. To this end, the Bielefeld-based company is combining large-scale leaf sizes with absolute ease of use, as well as the innovative air-lux sealing technology.
Thanks to its rotational axis on the inside and outside, the new Schüco pivot door enables impressive transitions with leaf sizes up to 2500 mm wide and 4000 mm high. Not only the size, but also the design of the Schüco pivot door can be individually adapted, be it with a central or lateral rotational axis, or opaque or transparent infills with different materials. The door system is therefore not only suitable as an entrance or patio door in luxury residential construction, it also provides new design options for large glass façades in commercial construction.
Ease of use and innovative sealing technology
Comfortable living and work spaces, whatever the weather – the thermally insulated pivot door ensures this with its patented, pneumatic air-lux gasket system. Two continuous, inflatable gaskets are fully integrated in the leaf and guarantee complete weathertightness. From inside, the doors are operated by pressing a button that is integrated discreetly and unobtrusively in the outer frame profile or the wall.
If the button is pressed when the door is closed, the two pneumatic seals deflate and the locking pins retract. Innovative hinges and fittings mean that the door is easy to open and the required operating forces are reduced to a minimum. With another press of the button, the locking pins close the unit. Air is simultaneously pumped into the gaskets, sealing the unit.
From outside, the doors can be operated using smart home components, such as Schüco Fingerprint or Schüco Smart Touch. Conventional access control systems can also be connected.
The innovative sealing technology means that the Schüco pivot door can achieve wind load resistance to Class 2, air permeability to Class 4 and watertightness to 9A.
The pivot door system is pre-fabricated by Schüco partner air-lux in Switzerland, and delivered straight to site as a kit. air-lux also provides on-site support with installation and glazing.
